How to aggregate all BGP peers from multiple routers in one

This guide is written to provide an alternative way to connect multiple routers in one. Connecting these routers via this way and not using an I-BGP protocol has some disadvantages and few advantages. One good feature is the stability while routing protocols may not have.

Disadvantages

  • A lot of traffic between routers (Gigabit ethernet is needed)
  • A lot of (virtual) interfaces that may confuse you
  • Complicated setup

Advantages

  • Only one router runs BGP
  • Simple BGP configuration
  • No problems that arise using internal routing protocols or confederations
